How Does Online Gambling Work?

Online gambling is pretty simple really - you play exactly as you would in a live casino, except you can play right from your home (or wherever else you have an Internet connection). The only real differences are the fact that you have a little more trouble buying/cashing in chips, and there are no live dealers.

Depositing/Withdrawing

As I just mentioned, depositing and withdrawing money online is a little more difficult than walking up to a cage in a casino. Basically, you have a few options when it comes to depositing:

  • Visa/MasterCard
  • eChecks
  • eWallets

Credit cards are by far the easiest way to deposit, as they are instant and don't have any fees at all. eChecks allow you to deposit from your checking account by providing your bank routing number and checking account number. These are also instant, and there aren't any fees.

eWallets are the worst option in our opinion, because they aren't always instant, have fees, and usually involve funding your account with a credit card or eCheck anyways, so you may as well cut out the middle man.

To withdraw, most players choose to either receive checks or wire transfers from the online casino. Usually there are no fees and you'll have your money within a week or two, a month max.

Random Number Generators

The other difference between live and online casinos is the fact that online casinos use random number generators (RNG's) instead of live dealers to determine the outcome of each game.

For example, at the roulette tables a computer randomly selects what number the ball lands on. The game is just as random as at a live roulette table, and the casino has no control over what number comes out - it's just whatever the RNG selects for that game.

Some players are concerned that the games aren't fair, which is a reasonable concern because the casino makes money when you lose. However, every online casino listed on this website is required to undergo third party checks on their RNG's to make sure everything is fair and random. We have never come across a situation where an online casino was rigging the games or failed a third party RNG check.
